Here at Cleckheaton Chiropractic we hear many questions from new and current patients. Here are some common questions and answers.
This visit is all about getting to the root of your issues and identifying the cause. You are asked to please arrive early and fill out a new patient form involving a detailed medical history. Your chiropractor will ask you all the relevant information about you and your issue in the consultation, followed by a thorough examination involving all the clinical tests required. The examination normally involves orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic testing by your chiropractor. After this visit, your chiropractor will analyze your case and present their findings to you in the subsequent visit.
Once we have all the information from the initial consultation and examination, your chiropractor, will analyse your findings and formulate a plan of management for you. At your second visit, your chiropractor will give you a detailed verbal report and treatment (if safe and indicated). At this visit you'll be told what's wrong, how to fix it and how long it should take. Once your chiropractor has gone through all of their findings and recommendations with you, with your consent, your care will begin (if safe and indicated). This visit is usually completed within a week depending on availability.
Your Chiropractor will check you and your spine, then the chiropractor will use various techniques to correct any mechanical dysfunction found and educate you during the process on what you can do to help yourself. Chiropractic adjustments are precise and will be tailored to suit you. We aim to make your appointments beneficial and educational. The chiropractor will use their knowledge and experience to coach you towards better health choices, with the aim of keeping your symptoms at bay and optimizing function.
Chiropractic adjustments are generally pain free, however if you are already in pain you may have a little discomfort. We are trained in many different techniques (of varying intensities) to keep pain to a minimum, so just ask your chiropractor if you prefer gentle care.
Chiropractic care usually involves a course of care. Every case is unique so there is no generic rule. The number will vary on many factors such as your age, what the examination findings are, how long you’ve had your condition, other medical conditions you may have, how well you stick to the chiropractor’s recommendations and your own healing rate. We are always transparent and honest and will give you a detailed guide at your second visit including our recommendations.
Duration varies. Chiropractic adjustments are specific, direct and tailored to your particular clinical needs. We aim to be effective and efficient allowing you to get on with the rest of your day.
You do not have to but you can if you would like to. Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals. We have all the healthcare training required to deal with the general public, if something is not within our scope of practice, we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare provider.
